Walk Leader, John from Hemel Hemsptead, shared his experiences with us to motivate others to take the First Step to better health. Join John and others on the First Steps walks in Gadebridge Park on a Monday Morning or Berkhamsted on alternate Thursdays www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/healthwalks
John said:
“I started walking with the Dacorum Health Walks group on a regular basis follow rehab from open heart surgery and a post-operative stroke. My mobility has improved dramatically since taking up walking for health, and I find that talking to walk leaders and other walkers also helped me get over anxiety problems from which I suffered following my stroke.
I feel because I lead mainly First Steps (gentle 20 minutes walks) it is really nice to assist people who are less able to experience the benefits of walking and to help people who have had surgery on their way to recovery and hopefully move on to our higher level walks.”
